Worker killed in Bluff City logging accident

Update: Sept. 25, 9:10 a.m. — Police have identified the victim in yesterday’s logging death Michael Buchanan, age 42, of Greeneville. No additional information was released. 


BLUFF CITY — About 9:45 this morning, a 911 call was received by the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office reporting a logging accident.

The caller advised that a tree had fallen on one of the logging employees.

Sullivan County EMS, Bluff City Rescue Squad and Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the scene, located at the end of Morrell Creek Lane in Bluff City.

Emergency medical personnel on the scene determined that the logging employee was deceased. Investigators from the Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and the Sullivan County Coroner was notified to respond.

At this time, the deceased is not being identified until next-of-kin is notified.

The name of the logging company is White Oak Logging of Bristol.
